Mythical status
According to popular conception, the ghostwriter is the anonymous scribbler who puts into words the life stories of sports and media stars. Like most popular images, it's partly true; but ghostwriters also work for less lionised clients. And here's another shock: they don't just write (auto)biographies – fictional ghostwriters really exist!

Do it yourself?
Chances are, you've pondered the principle of writing your work yourself – you've seen other bozos turn out a hardback, so why not you? You might turn out to be an excellent writer. After all, who knows your story better than you?
It might be possible. But ask yourself: “Do I have the time and the talent?”
